I like the combination of green and black/grey - had a much beloved coloured pencil, of considerable age, in a particular blue/green with which I composed many a doodle: until it finally expired. Glad you learned from this, because that - in my opinion - is where the real joy of painting and drawing lies. I like the way the tree breaks the line of the house, and the post right in front of us is a very useful device for indicating scale and distance.

Thanks very much for your interesting comment Robert. Sorry to hear about the demise of your beloved pencil. Yes I left the post till last because I knew a very dark black pastel would smudge everywhere, I learnt that from charcoal!
