What lovely colours, Martin. That red bracken looks so different!

I love everything about this, but especially the red bracken.

A lovely sight well captured Martin. I also like the reds and the general composition sloping across the painting. Well done for getting put there!

It's really good Martin get a real sense of the sludginess you describe

Very eye catching Martin and very good sense of depth in this piece.

This is really lovely Martin. Wonderful colours and like the sense of depth to it.

It might have felt horrible but it looks beautiful, which is what makes this time of the year so special I think. It's a lovely painting Martin.

Thanks for having a look and commenting David Christine Lynda Tessa Heather John David and Sarah. I appreciate your appreciation

Nicely done indeed Martin .

I love the colours here, and I really admire you for staying out in the sludge and working en plein air!

Caught my eye, love the red of the bracken and the composition x

Thanks very much Chris Spencer Hilary- I do like to try and do some of the painting outside. It feels more authentic and satisfying somehow-and Katy. Much appreciated

I’ve never seen bracken looking so spectacular! I particularly like the left hand bottom corner, the textures and colours are gorgeous.

Lovely painting Martin, like the colours and detail.

This is an amazing beauty from the composition of the "bush" on the left with the lovely green pods floating 'ore, to the soft green-blue of the trees to match the pine on the top left. The skilled ink drawing underneath is an added grace note. I admire the control you have with watercolor, the light bouncing around. It's a treat to see your work.

Love the composition and colours - and the way you’ve done all the foliage and grasses.

Thanks for your generous comments Fiona Brian Lynne Jenny and Coral. Very cheering

I’ve never seen the bracken look so red as it did last month with the odd frond still wearing green. I wonder if the contstant rain affected it. It looked stunning but was a nightmare underfoot, the peat being so wet and sludgy. In my usual way I sketched with Fude pen en plein air and added colour in studio.
