lovely as usual thea, makes one wishes you were there x

Never excuse your work Thea, it is always of a high caliber whatever you do. You have captured all that you described the conditions to be, lovely movement in the sky and sea......the best yet!!

Another great perfectly composed sketch. Simple but effective I really like this series of sketches and you make the format work very well. I'm almost inspired to take out a sketch book myself. Almost. A great souvenir of your holiday.

Great plein aire work as always Thea.

Like the way that you've painted the sea in this one Thea, it certainly looks windy!

Thank you very much Lilias, Fiona, Kevin, Derek and Louise for adding such nice comments. I have actually found it quite liberating to just quickly get an impression of a scene down on paper - must try and apply that to my paintings I think. It isn't something I have been used to doing, so something positive for me has definitely come out of my doing these holiday sketches.

Nice and fresh work, just as a sketch should be. I like the colourful hills / cliffs in the distance and the lively sky and sea.

Gorgeous work, Thea! Really enjoying your sketchbook paintings - so much atmosphere and immediacy to your work!

4 distinct elements: sea, sky, sand and cliffs/dunes. Shake 'em up, add some lashings of colour and canny perspective and what have you got? One of Thea's seaside gems.

Another great spontaneous sketch Thea - more please

I like the immediate impression of this - a sort of 'I know cos I was there!'

This is truly lovely and spontaneous Thea! The sky and the sea look so real and fresh with just a couple of brush strokes and the colour of the hills or dunes is fantastic. I don't know how you can achieve all that standing up, I couldn't.

You've certainly caught the blusteriness ( is that a real word? :) ) of the day Thea in this super sketch.

Lovely Thea, great colours on the cliffs.

How I wish that I was able to do such lovely spontaneous sketches!

Thank you so much Stephen, Seok, Kim and Michael for such a variety of lovely compliments - really very kind of you all.

Thank you very much Debs, Satu, Val, Carole and Christine for liking my little sketch - your comments are very much appreciated.

Fab sketch. I am going to have to go there now. The sketch has really caught the feel.

Wow I have just noticed. My name is back to normal!!!!

So full of colour and fun - and in my book (and yours) that's what it's all about.

lovely fresh, airy - wish I was there, Thea

Thank you Gudrun, Joseph, Anne and Jenny for your nice comments. I wish I was back there too!

Another wonderful sketch. Beautiful colours.

This is so nice Thea - excellent composition and a lovely spontaneous feel to it.

this is delightful Thea what a super watercolour from your holidays, hope you are feeling a bit better after your latest knee op, I could have sworn it was your back until I noticed your comment to someone mentioning you had just had your knee op, oh well, anything it is lovely to see these paintings of the Norfolk Broads

Thank you very much Dawn, Frank and Ros for lovely comments. Yes, Ros, it was my knee - 3rd op after a couple of skiing accidents - so an own goal really! The beach is actually on the North Norfolk coast rather than the Broads, which is a lot further over to the east. I have only been to the Broads once and we took a boat out intending to have a leisurely jaunt down the river. However, we hadn't planned on one of our dogs being terrified of being on the boat and the the other one wanting to constantly jump ship and chase all the ducks. It wasn't that restful I can tell you!

Just loveit Thea.

4th Sketch from my holiday on the North Norfolk coast. This is West Runton Beach, which is another of our favourite ones to walk on in Norfolk. It was a blustery day with the sea very choppy and grey. The sun was coming in and out and the sky was a lovely dark blue. Roger and Milly were walking in the surf ahead of me, so that is what I tried to sketch. You can also see Cromer Pier in the distance. This sketch was another one that I had to do standing up and trying to hold my sketchbook steady against the wind (well - that's my excuse for the wobbly lines!). Pen and Wash in my sketchbook.
