Looks fine to me - you can learn a lot form copying others.

Stephen this is great, again wonderful greens and the depth of the shadows really makes the painting stand out. Lovely painting.

There is nothing 'poor' about this painting Stephen, in fact, it's quite the opposite. Full of richness and your signature golden glow.

Many thanks, Linda, Glennis and Fiona, for your encouraging words. Julien's website is a real treat if get a chance to view, still lives and landscapes.

This isnt the one you did on thursday at Royton art group is it.this has a lot of warmth.

Thanks for commenting Pauline, you are right, I did this on Tuesday. I find I need to let the painting dry for a few days before photographing it, as the flash picks up reflections from the wet bits!

It's a lovely piece, Stephen, and it shows your huge progress in oils. Nothing poor about this copy - you've done a superlative job and made it your own. I enjoy Julian Merrow-Smith's work too, it's very inspirational.

Thanks once more for your encouragement Seok.

Great warm colours, appealing painting Sephen.

I love the warmth of the sunlit road and the stones in the wall, Stephen.

Many thanks Carole and Jane for your supportive comments.

Rich and warm painting. I wish I was somewhere warm. It is very cold where I am at the moent. The keyboard is chilly!

Thanks Gudrun, if you go on Julian's site , Postcard from Provence, there are many sunny Provencal landscapes to warm you!

This is a poor copy of a Julien Merrow Smith painting. I love his work and he adds a small oil painting every day to his 'Postcard from Provence' web site.

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
