A good excersise to do Satu. Could I just ask would not the shadows to the right of your objects have been as dark as the one created by the round shape onto the cube? Personally I would have made the darks the same value as the round as the light source is the same. I might set this up for myself and work it through . Tricky and well done. I think doing this sort of excersise can only be a good thing.

Thank you very much for your comments Sylvia, Michael and Carole! The whole background should be a bit darker but the paper I used was hard to work on so I left it. The shadow on the cube is the strongest of all in the photo I worked from and I tried to follow it exactly. Have a go Sylvia and Carole, it would be great to see your versions of it.

Good exercise Satu, most of this terms art class work has been all about drawing, form, tone etc. We did paper collage work this week of the same pile of scrap! lol Next week, I'm looking forward to....same pile of scrap but BIG canvas and BIG brushes ie nothing smaller than a 2" brush and mainly using 4" brush.

Satu I have posted my attempt on this...I think yours is terrific and can now understand the shadows of the round. It is not easy...anyone else going for it . ? My husband bless him explained that if the cylinder is further back than it appears to be the round shape will act as you portrayed. He did it on plan as if it was being looked down on.
