That is absolutely beautiful and brilliant, the detail is spot on.

Ah thank you Marie….very kind….I think this has been my most enjoyable painting to date!

You have caught the animal very very well with super technique but not being a pro I don't get your words about the textural background and his vulnerability

Thank you Derek, what I meant (and I'm sure I didn't express this well at all!) is that the world seems quite a frightening place to this very shy horse and I wanted the misty background to give a sense of that confusion.

Beautiful effect, down to your sensitive technique. I love the muted colours used.

A beautiful expressive painting Sarah, and I think you have really captured the essence of vulnerability in his gaze....Lovely work on the body musculature and colour ones.

Beautiful animal beautifully painted Sarah

Good grief Sarah....this is breathtakingly beautiful! For me, your best ever so far, you have expressed every emotion that's running through his mind, all in his body language and eyes. Stunning!

Very lovely portrait.

lovely just shows him off perfectly

Extraordinary, beautiful, sensitive and just a most wonderful painting Sarah!

Stunning portrait, Sarah, and great mastering of palette knife, in so difficult subject. Wonderful work.

Gorgeous painting Sarah :)

Thank you so much everyone….can't wait to paint more horses!

So sensitively drawn Sarah, and of the style and quality that I now expect to see from you.

Thanks for my comment, always appreciated, I love these new hand ground watercolours, I'm trying to cut out any detail as such and concentrate purely on colour and light, I hope it's working but a long way to go yet.

Anyway, keep up the good work as I know you will.

What a great horse, Sarah! He looks so gentle. A beautiful creature! I cannot call him a painting I'm afraid, because he emits so much personality and emotion that he seems real! What a beauty!

Thank you so much Alan….I'll be interested to see how your work progresses with the hand ground watercolours. Cutting out detail is something I find almost impossible to do!! I'm a bit of a slave to it!

Also thank you Jennifer…..I couldn't really ask for more than that! x

A beautiful Sensitive painting Sarah, you definitely captured the shyness with this horse. Love the soft textures you achieved and the excellent work you did on his coat. Remarkable lifelike details!

Portrait of a very shy dark bay horse. I used a new technique here to create the background, which I painted on using a palette knife. This horse is very shy and I wanted the textural grey background to echo his sense of vulnerability.
