Wilbraham Road, Whalley Range

Super painting of Wilbraham Road Roger and the addition of cars works well!

Do like this autumnal Manchester scene. Know the area well and you have brought back some happy memories for me Roger. Love your brushstrokes with a great balance between accuracy and looseness.

Thanks, Louise. I always used to put a bus in but I wanted the viewer to be able to see into the distance.

Excellent. The inclusion of cars and a figure adds to this super painting. I know the that road so well having go to school at WHGS and lived in Chorlton.

Apologies for my poor grammar!

Very well painted scene Roger, I also know the area, lovely pre war houses with character.

Love it.

Thank you, everyone it's great to read that you can relate to my subject. Your school is just behind us to the right, Richard. I'm standing at the bottom of Athol Rd. looking towards the lights at Alexandra Rd South and then on towards Chorlton.

Indeed Roger. Happy days.

Very well painted Roger - love the autumn colours

Really good Roger, the cars work fine!

It’s a fabulous every day scene, made more realistic with the cars added . You have painted this really well Roger , it would be interesting to see the original version . If you have the original think about putting them together on the forum, I think it would make for a great discussion.

16" x 20" oil on canvas. I painted the first version of this scene in the autumn of 1980. I've always loved autumn colours and suburban walls and gateposts. I've started a few versions since then but have never finished any of them until now. I was dubious about painting cars but it isn't convincing without them.
