There's a wonderful Hardy-coppice-gatey atmosphere to this. I admire it all, not least the way the weakening eye of day has been saturated into the waters. Heaven knows we've little cause for carollings nowadays, but you've illustrated that hope springeth eternal...

Yes I agree, colours in this are really good, love the rendering of the hedgerow as well it all works really well, great job Robert

It's a real skill using the hake. I have tried with little success. You have succeeded in every way. Lovely subtle colours in the distant hills and foliage. Great fingernail technique in the foreground grasses too.

Works for me. The colours are lovely and so are the textures. I haven't tried 30 minutes ...

I love this painting. I can't stop looking at it...and in 30 minutes too. Very impressive. Love the colours.

Very atmospheric Robert and in 30 mins too!! Lovely work.

Thirty minutes very well spent Robert.

A lovely piece, Robert, with superb rendition of light and atmosphere. I haven't been commenting for a while because I was pretty inundated, so apologies if I missed some of your earlier pieces. I'll get round to it eventually.

Hi Robert love the effect you have got from this work very atmospheric and a beautiful sky.

As you are aware Robert, not the best 12 months and I have neglected browsing through my favourite artists for some time. However, I did get round to a good long look at yours today and regret what I have missed these last few months. Not too sure when you producrd this but think it is excellent. Different from your usual palette but beautiful tonal and atmospheric quality. I did comment on the 'Twiglets' and that is where your strength lies but this, in its own right, works for me just as well. You're a clever old b...... Keep at it.

Responding to a Forum thread mentioning 30 minute paintings - this quarter imperial was done in just about that time EXCLUDING drying times, as I work quite wet in w/colour. One or two odd shapes, given I used a Hake, but I don't normally work that fast...... much use of the finger-nail, too....
