Me, Self-Isolating on the Undercliff

Self isolating on the Undercliff

"Excessiveness", that should have read. Oh, and its oil on board, 16" x 12".

Looks like a good spot ... and I like the painting too!

I like the transition from sea to sky, and yes, what a great spot! Lot’s of greens are so difficult to master, I’m no expert by a mile, but these seem pleasing to the eye! You’ve not asked for critique, so I’ll leave it there...

Pleased to finally see your painting posted. Lovely painting , Robert.

This reminds me of a very beautiful painting by Monet. You have used very interesting brushstrokes with great skill and accomplished a rich, coastal scene, which is so appealing Robert.

Critiques would be welcome - Lord knows, I've applied plenty of my own to this!

“Sitting on the dock of the bay”.....what a lovely place to isolate, I wish I could sit at the other end of the bench with you and take in that view. Those wild flowers and gnarled bush behind you just makes it. Love it.

What a great spot. Looking at your painting makes me wish I was there Love the way you painted the grsss and flowers

Many thanks for all your comments. I would never choose to paint like this, but it was so valuable to me in regaining brush-stroke ability, if such a term exists: incidentally, my sole whites were lead whites, not Titanium: this was part of the experiment, that and relying solely on Linseed oil (and a touch of sun-thickened oil) as a medium - no Turps or LOTS. It was quite an experimental painting, which taught me a lot - a Hell of a lot, to be honest! You're never too old to learn - and I think there's so much more to learn about oil painting that there is about any other medium (tempera excepted?) which is what makes it so endlessly and fascinatingly addictive.

I wonder what you were thinking... Like it...

A response to the self-portrait challenge, and please read my blog here for a defence of its excessive - the point was to get my hand in again, rather than to produce any kind of painting ... and I think its primary objective worked, anyway.
