Many thanks to you all for your comments. I think, insofar as I can really judge my own work, that this is better than a painting I did last year of the same place, different view - and I sold that one, eventually. Don't know if this makes sense, but I seem to be actually seeing more than I used to - obviously the old eyesight doesn't have much to do with that, because it gets no better: but the more you look, and go out, the more is there in terms of colour and tone, especially.
