This is the exterior of the synagogue which was established in 1568 during the Portuguese rule of Cochin in present day Kerala. It was build by the Malabar Jews, a prosperous trading community who controlled a major portion of the world spice trade. I have chosen to show the exterior because of the simple stark lines; but a visit to the synagogue is highly recommended.
