Some nice touches Sarah. If it was brownish it might well have been a Kite.

You have well rendered the dramatic scene you saw in the hills with your colours, Sarah, and with the flight of the birds on the top of the painting.

Love the story, Sarah, relieved to hear your dachsy is unscathed too (there can't be many creatures cuter than a dachshund puppy!! Except whippet puppies). Nice sense of distant grey hills. Did you do this on the spot?

Thank you John, Cesare and Caroline for your kind comments. I think that the bird was a Kite as it was very impressive with finger like feathers at the end of each wing that curled upwards in flight. I kept to earth colours which was hard for me as I like a burst of colour in a painting . I was lucky to have the hills as a view from where we were staying and I was able to paint it from the warmth of the kitchen as most days it was bucketing down with rain.

Good story, good title and very good painting Sarah.

Love the colours you've chosen for this one Sarah a smashing harmonious painting

Interesting story, lovely landscape Sarah. Do love the colours. Well done.

Scary Sarah, nice painting though.

Very well done, Sarah: a painting with a story!

Could have been a buzzard but you have shown typical forked tail of a red kite. They are not massive but so what? It is a lovely subject well painted Sarah

Lovely. Gives a real sense of space and freedom.

Louise , Dennis,, Henry, Carole, Mia and Derek thank you for your comments. Very much appreciated. Derek, I think it was a Kite although a Buzzard had been seen in the region. The tail was more wedge shaped than I have shown in my painting .

Lovely painting with a lovely story Sarah.

Anne and Val, thank you so much for your kind comments.

Love your narrative Sarah and the painting matches it perfectly. The palette and ariel perspectives work wonderfully together.

Thank you Fiona :)

Walking our dog in the hills of Wales I came across a massive bird of prey circling over the sheep on the hillside, but then about eight crows swooped at the bird of prey chasing it away. I was very glad as the sheep were massive compared to my dachshund puppy and she would have made a tasty morsel for the Hawk.
