Lovely colourful bright scene Sarah, great pen and watercolour work, lovely little boats in the foreground and masts in the distance

Ros got there before me and I agree with her, a very attractive painting Sarah!

Ros and Satu thank you so much for your nice comments :)

Sarah I was glad to find your gallery after your post on mine. You are in good company painting this scene and now join Wesson, Yardley, Hall, Hoar and Winkle among others. I like the non architectural way you have handled the drawing which gives character. I like my gallery to attract critical comment and I have learned a lot from members. I hope you will not mind my thoughts on this. I wonder if cropping the bottom two or so inches of the water, just above your signature, would bring the lovely red wall of the house nearer the Golden Mean. I have done this on my screen and to me it vastly improves the composition. Just a thought with which I accept many will disagree.

Alan, I always think that without criticism we do not grow! Actually , I agree with you !!! Isn't it funny how you can look at a painting but not see the best way to enhance it, I looked at one I painted last year and realised the reds in it were fighting each other. I appreciate you commenting on my painting and look forward to seeing more of your work on this site. I envy you painting with Steve Hall, alas! He does not come to our art group anymore as he is so very busy.

Pen and watercolour on Bockingford paper. The Shipwright Arms was once a public house that could boast the waves lapping at its walls at high tide. Sold.
