Were these portfolio compositions cloned digitally in Corel Painter from photographs? I am interested because most of us work very hard to produce work using real paint on real paper. I apologise if I am incorrect in my assumption about your work and would congratulate you unreservedly on your skill if I am proved wrong.

I should have added that there are many artists here who use pastels who are always looking for inspiration. Please address yourself to them as well!

Lovely painting beautifully rendered - I love the dry outer skin and the two little cloves of garlic.Did they go into something tasty?! ( Not sure how to interpret previous comments.......)

The paintings are not cloned from digital images. I woudn't know how to if I wanted. I don't use grids or square things up. I use real pastels on various types of pastel surface depending on the effect I want to achieve.

Peter I think your onions are outstanding! I love using pastels and I am very much in awe of your work.

And I've never seen anybody do it better!! Your paintings are amazing and I'm going to do as you suggested and just practice, practice, practice in the hope that one day I'll produce something half as good as this. I can dream can't I !!

Absolute perfection. How anyone could think this was digital beats me. Everything works . The grain in the wood complements the grain on the onion s; the colours harmonise; the shadows contain that hint of colour from the reflection of the onions and the transparency of teh onion skin is beautiful.

Excellent onions - if I may say so! Very impressive portfolio Peter

Absolutely stunning. So real I could take them off the page and cook with them. Excellent use of pastels. It's not an easy medium to do detailed work with. Well done, Peter.
