This technique sounds intriguing Pat. Do you apply both at the same time or do you have to put the cold wax on top of the oil? I’ve never come across this before, I will have to do some research! It’s very effective and has a depth to it. Does the wax give much of a raised surface.

Pat, thank you very much for your explanation of the technique. It’s very effective in the way that it creates texture and depth, especially in the definition of the roses petals. It would be difficult not to run your hand over the surface!

I’ve just watched a demo on YouTube Pat....like it, might have to have a go at that. I’ll put it to one side for a winter project. Thank you for the introduction.

Small oil painting with wax on mixed media board. This surface is a very tough thin board. I found it excellent to take on holiday as it is so lightweight. Oil paint tends to dry more quickly than canvas of MDF. The oil and cold wax was applied with brush and scraper. I've had a break from painting much this year but started again recently and getting ready for Open studios.
