Kay Jamieson sent in her portrait painting saying: 'This painting began with a tonal drawing embellished it with layers of oil colour. After reading Paul's article I was inspired to follow his process and try to keep it loose as I usually struggle with applying paint without smoothing it off - I want to finish before I've laid the foundation! Here at least I didn't have a reference photo to copy so I could concentrate on tones and colours. This was a really valuable lesson, thank you.'
