Impressive Denise! How do you actually apply the powder?

Thanks Tessa, you use brushes to apply. Using only tiny amounts and building it up. I'm new to the powder. It can be used with water.

Wow Denise this is absolutely amazing and so beautifully done .

Very well done, Denise.

Superb artwork Denise.

This is great Denise, I must try some charcoal powder.

Fabulous, the face is mesmeric!

Beautifully drawn Denise. I like the subtle graduations achieved on the face.

Thanks Denise. It looks to work well.

Your comments are greatly appreciated Spencer, Paul, David, Stephen, Russell, Heather and Lewis. Great to hear from you Lewis. Yes Tessa, definitely worth investing in a jar. I can see it is something I will use often.

Very effective, Denise, it produces lovely subtle shading.

Beautiful portrait, Denise.

I love the softness you've achieved in the face.

I like the way you’ve portrayed the face Denise but not sure about the bit below….it detracts from the sensitive portrait. ( Hope you don’t mind me saying..)

Thanks very much Jenny, Ellen, Bobbie and Marjorie. I don't mind Marjorie, this was just a try out of the powder. It's a tad, lengthier process compared to blending with pencils and sticks and I wanted to keep the time spent on it, limited. Lovely stuff to work with though.

Beautiful portrait Denise, can’t believe you only started painting in 2020, amazing use of the charcoal powder.

I agree with Heather about the intensity in the face. Great work Denise.

Really interesting technique with a great result Denise.

I bought myself some Coates artists willow charcoal powder earlier this week. Not used the powder before. I quite liked its shading ability. I spent a couple of hours doing Charlie Chaplin, a favourite of mine, to try it out.
