All of your pastels make me realise I have some way to go when it comes to technique using this medium thanks for the inspiration!

Lovely painting...is it done with pencil pastels, soft or hard pastels...and what kind of paper? I'm inspired to try my hand!

Jackie.Cannot remember the last time I used hard pastels,always soft, The paper I think may have been Canson though I use so many that I cant remember.As long as you buy paper with plenty of "tooth"it will probably work.Avoid paper with a regular marking as it tends to spoil the natural effect of pastel.Try using very soft charcoal pencil for details but dont overdo it,I use my fingers a lot for blending colours particularly the sky effects.Always work from the top down to avoid constant smudging,if you need to rework any sections try useing a reworkable fixative.It does tend to flatten colours a bit so you may have reemphasise lighter details.
