This is a great little painting too Diana, very pretty bird with the crest. The branch is well painted. Glad you found my colours sceme for Amaryllis. The cad red deep is slightly opaque, but used it on small areas. I also added sepia to get the really deep bits at the stem end. Hope this helps. The W orange glaze does give a lovely glow to the red.

I see great minds think alike!! Whilst I was in my bed suffering from a nasty tummy bug my hubby spent his time at the kitchen window with his camera trained on the bird table. I now have quite a few photos of robins, bull finches, tits and mistle thrushes to paint. I think I'll try mine in pastel as I'll never get them as good in watercolour as yours, they are beautiful. I really think I have forgotten how to paint in watercolour, very frustrating !!

Beautiful sense of form in the body of the bird, and I agree with Carole that the branch is well painted. Lovely!

Bright chirpy image. I like the expression in his eye and agree with all the other comments. Fab

Well Val if I had your skill with pastels I'd be a happy bunny. Each to his own I guess. Thank you everyone for the lovely comments. The photo is actually too yellow ; it's still snowing and I can't get daylight photos. This is the result of energy saving bulbs. Horrid things.

A lovely piece. The color and composition are very effective.

Thank you Seok, much appreciated.

It's your technique with watercolour which really shines through all your work

A rare visitor. They don't usually come so far west as us.
