510x405mm Oil on canvas Ocean cruisers from N America had anchored their schooner Taio in the lagoon at Alvor, Portugal. The painting shows them coming ashore in their dinghy and attempts to explore the mismatch between the practicalities of cruising - the necessary mass of equipment and supplies - and the promise of simplicity.
