I can feel the music - great painting, Philip

Terrific again Philip, and yes I often listen to and am inspired by music whilst painting . Nice job.

Smashing Philip, love the eyes and the young one following on snare drum

I love the trumpeter's eyes. Jazz is my bag, however, it's more contemporary than New Orleans. EST - Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Zoë Rahmen etc. Not contemporary, but marvellous, Miles Davis.

I love the movement and liveliness of your band paintings. You can almost hear the music which is a great achievement.

Watercolour on a half Imperial sheet of 200lb Bockingford NOT. Again the emphasis is on capturing the spirit and movement of the musicians; and the drama and excitement of the parade. I listen to the music as I'm painting, and I'm convinced this is reflected in a more expressive, more painterly outcome. Anyone else paint to accompaniment? Any requests?
