Charlies Car

Love it Michael,I have had a similar style in my head for a week now. Only trouble is what subject would suit this and very similar to this style. Intrigued to see the other version?

Love the wash work Michael, and best wishes to your wife during her returning to being well again.

Love this Michael, so would my husband as he is a vintage car enthusiast, like the wash you have created and the colours you have used. My best wishes also for a speedy recovery for your wife.

Hey I just came back to wonder why the Title was "Charlies car" and not "At The Car Wash" ? :-)

Very effective and eye catching, Michael. I love the crispness of the car and the contrast of the background - together they make a lovely little painting. Hope your wif'e's recovery goes well and look forward to seeing your next posting, in good time.

Beautiful wash. Lovely! How did you make these colour? Indigo and green? I would like to try these very reich grey. Best wishes to your wife.

Simple but so effective - great work Michael, best wishes to your wife.

Very nice little picture Michael, is this a Riley? My father used to own one and it looks familiar. Hope you wife gets well soon.

Super drawing and tonal work, trust your wife enjoys a speedy recovery.

This is great Michael, I love how you have tackled it......I have an old land rover lightweight with a canvas top, and would love to do something similar to this. You may have inspired me to have a go! I hope both you and your wife come through the other side of this set back with your good health and sanity. My very best wishes to you both.

I'm not really into cars but this so appealing and attractive. Lovely palette and the splashes are so much nicer than a full background. Are you going to post the other version? Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to your wife.

Thanks to you all for your kind words and best wishes. Midori - I am not sure about the green as it was something from the corner of the palette but I think it was cobalt green - the grey was paynes grey - just the two colours. I am not a car buff and this was pinted from an old photo I came across which had no info but I rather think it is an MG - perhaps someone can advise?

It's absolutely lovely, Michael! And it's going to be an inspiration for me - I've just returned from Cuba and they have the coolest vintage cars!

Wonderful - great use of darks and lights to describe the shape of the car. I like your minimalistic background and the colours you have used. PS Hope your wife will recover quickly.

Lovely Michael. Love the simple washes and limited palette. Beautifully done. My best wishes to you both.

Thanks Seok, Thea and Jeanette. I do like painting in this way and may try a few landscapes when I have the time. also thanks for your kind wishes - Jeanne due out this weekend and recovering well - really looking forward to having her back home.

Lovely painting Michael. Like the green and grey together

Many congratulations Michael, this painting really deserves the top of the top tens!

I am looking after my wife this month after major op (all went well and she is due home over the weekend) so won't get much chance(if any) to paint and postings/comments may be a bit sparse for a while. Anyway am snatching a few moments to catch up and am posting this latest little experiment I did a week or so ago (one of two versions) - hope you like it>
