I don't know if Christ existed or not, but if he did he would not have been the blond or auburn haired angelic looking soul of Jehovah's Witness pamphlets: this painting is much nearer to the way he would probably have looked as a middle-Eastern Jew: I'd value this over Holman Hunt's Light of the World any day.

Thankyou heather and especially you Robert. Yes that was exactly my intention, to paint him as a native of the country he was born in. There are several pictures by rembrandt in which he paints jesus with very dark hair and even the earlier Leonardo painted him more true to his origins in his Salvator mundi which my picture owes alot to.

A very strong image and far more realistic to the area where he would have been born.

Maybe the last painting of the month. Yet I've worked on this on and off for about 10 months. It was sat collecting dust for about 7 months.
