Peaceful Haven

I realise this isn't finished, Max, but I am a little confused by the swans in the foreground. Are they going to be on water or nesting on the ground? I only ask as the foreground seems to slope, which wouldn't be so good if it was water. This is going to a lovely colourful painting. Is it from imagination or have you used a reference? Love all the little houses, which you have done very loosely without too much fussy detail. Nice trees as well. Look forward to the finished painting.

Don't detail the background any more Max, it recedes nicely and the trees are great but do detail the foreground to bring it further forward. If I could just give a tip on drawing, buildings, even when they are on a hill have completely vertical walls but some of yours are sloping. The swans are a great shape ; maybe some shadow among their feathers to define them a bit more.As Thea suggests, If they are on water, maybe turn it into grass because water can't slope like that.

Thank you for your sound advice........the swans are having a rest on the ground not in the water......the houses are meant to be sloping up the hill, i agree about the vertical walls......i did not give this much thought in the layout & am extremely puzzled on how to put it right any comments are more than welcome
