Another comment of mine that is missing. Here we go again:- I don't usually view floral subjects however the dark areas drew me in and I studied it. It works beautifully.

Many thanks, Derek. I'm trying to lighten up and loosen up a bit now Spring is here instead of using my usual black supports. It's strange how one thing leads onto another as I haven't painted many floral things except for these last few months - and I only intended doing one at the outset. I've enjoyed the experience but the next painting I've started leads me into water again (with a few boats dotted around for good measure)!

Hang on Studio Wall

I wanted to loosen up a bit and this is the result. It's a small painting 21.5 x 21.5cms, pastel on french navy mountboard. I was particularly intrigued by the three dark shadows and wondered how they'd look in a small composition.
