You've already identified the problems with it, but I still like the skin tones - the sheen on the skin - and anatomically it's fine; just a question of adjusting the shadows and tones. The one thing that strikes me is the rather grey/blackish divisions between the joints of the finger - mind you, you might be a motor mechanic.... You have a long thumb, by the look of it; all conducing to what might be a rather good impression for a book cover, work entitled "Hand Of The Strangler" ... a disembodied human hand can be highly sinister..

Hehe typical Robert comment! This is a quite unique offering for a day of your daily challenge and it is really good, hands are amazingly difficult shouldn't be but they definitely are!

Many people say that hands are one of the most difficult parts to paint of the human form, this certainly looks a really good attempt to me Matthew.

Come back to this one in a couple of days and try again on a new sheet. All the things you don't like you can put right. I found the longer I did the challenge the quicker I got and the better I painted. This is pretty good though.

Hmm....not the best effort for the third day in a row of my "June Painting a Day Challenge" I'm afraid! Tiredness after work and lack of time evident I think? Having said that its a difficult subject for me to tackle too....notoriously not very good at hands. At least I managed to do something! So that's THREE days in a row now:) Its also a learning curve.. I can at least see things wrong with it...the index finger is ok for instance, but the last two fingers don't curl or project out at the viewer enough.. need darker shadow behind them etc etc.
