A worthy winner I must say. Full of character.

Masterly. Wonderful character in this old man. Great admiration for all your posts today, Mark.

I can see why it won its superb in every aspect Mark a pleasure to view it

Wonderful portrait such brilliant detail of this fine man. A great winner.

A fabulous stand out portrait. The palette gives it such a warm light. I'm enjoying looking at all the fine detail.

This is superb. Especially the arthritic hands. A real masterpiece Mark.

What more could I add...simply wonderful and a well deserved win. Those hands are so real. Just a WOW

It's a portrait that works on different levels - my overall feeling is one of sadness: this is a man nearing the end of life, whose body is crumbling; trousers undone at the top for comfort - or because he just tired of buttoning them up: or someone else had dressed him; old man's hands, one clutching a tissue or handkerchief .... but still with life in the eyes. Looked at just as a technical achievement, it is of course remarkable, but like all great paintings, it's much more than that.

Mark you are brilliant at these portraits - so much character - I have just read your details below and I'm not surprised you have won prizes for your work.

Brilliant and congratulations. Well deserved.

Phenomenal....keeping getting drawn back to it!

Incredible I"m not surprised its one awards. Must try harder at portraits...must try harder at portraits - this will be my mantra!!
