Daydreaming?

Comments

His eyes are a bit skew- whiff but I’m leaving it there.

It’s another lovely portrait of the man of the house , eyes skew - wiff or not it’s still a fine painting.

A thoughtful look Marjorie, and I think the remnants of the discarded landscape add to that feel. Very good.

It’s still a lovely portrait, Marjorie, and I like the way it blends with the remaining background from the landscape painting which adds interest.

This is a great painting, the mood and composition are spot on Marjorie 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Lovely portrait Marjorie and the background just adds to it.

I actually like the slight skew-whiffiness, it's an eye catcher (excuse the pun). anyway, great brushwork and use of colour

A very sensitive portrait painting Marjorie, very well done.

Surrounded by the landscape, you could almost imagine he is remembering, and dreaming of better days Marjorie. Excellent as always.

Love how the background enhances the act of your husband’s day dreaming. Must say he looks very content. Great treatment of light and the eyes look great Marjorie.

Ended well Marjorie

It’s a very thoughtful and sensitive portrait Marjorie! The old landscape underneath is actually quite inspired as it adds to sensitivity somehow. Love it!

Thanks everyone for the comments - I like it with the background too.

You are so good at portraits, love it.

It’s just struck me….it’s the angle of the glasses which is slightly off.

Great portrait Marjorie, he certainly looks as if he is daydreaming

Excellent, I really like the traces you have left behind.

Another good one Marjorie. Btw Is he called Isiah as in one isiah than the other? Sorry couldn’t resist

Ha ha good one Martin. We both laughed out loud at that.

I’ll have to get the paints out again !

I did get the paints out again and his right eye has been “ operated on” and the specs. All good now😁

Nice one Marjorie., symmetrical faces are a bit boring.,

....and another great portrait Marjorie.

Sorry; it's taken me a while to comment on your recent series of portraits Marjorie. They are all wonderful; I am so impressed by the way you lay down the paint to achieve such great portraits.

A superb piece, Marjorie, beautifully nuanced in its execution.

Thanks again for all your great comments - despite the wonky eyes ( which aren’t anymore ).

Glad the optical operation went well Marjorie and hope the patient has recovered. I’m glad you can take a leg pull and hope my awful joke didn’t put you to the extra work!

No it didn’t Martin. Commenting on Roger’s ( Gadd) work, I do know that sometimes I’m too “close” to a painting and it’s only when it’s posted that I see the glaring ( in this case) fault. Yet again the feature which is no longer available ( replacing the image) would be so helpful.

Great portrait

A quick oil on a 10”x10” board which already had a discarded landscape on it. I decided to let some traces remain.
