Fabulous painting M, love that background texture it really promotes the fruit, lovely.

Thanks Margaret and Willie - time to get the oil pastels out again.

Black paper is so nice to work on , I’d forgotten until I saw this Marjorie . . Those plums are a bit special.

The textures of those fruits are superb Marjorie. Beautifully observed

Sylvia and Diana, thanks, my favourite is the top grape, ha ha.

I've got a nice set of them that was amongst a prize for a letter in TA or LP, I can't remember which. But I ain't used them yet and I'm not sure why. Looking at this piece, I can appreciate their value as a medium. Lovely work Marjorie, you are versatile in your medium and subject matter.

They look good enough to eat Marjorie, a lovely painting 😃

I am playing around with oil pastels aren't they devilish. Looks like it's a breeze Marjorie lol, delicious fruit and love the use of texture, love it.

Alan, Linda, Charles, thankyou - they take a bit of getting used to.

Absolutely stunning, Marjorie, Yummy in fact in every sense of the word, have been playing around with my two sets, just experimenting. Did some blending with Turps, but don't know whether it's advisable...Anyone have any idea???

Thalia, thanks - I have tried turps and I came to the conclusion that it flattens it all a bit. Smooth paper for me, fingers to blend ( it warms up the oils) and a torchon to define or blend as well. I find you need to put it on quite thickly for the above effect but there are other ways if you want a rougher result. Where you live Thalia I shouldn't think you have trouble warming up the pastels! Mine are Sennelier.
