I like this - the muted flowers and the light emphasising the water area. The plums look fine to me. The background colours and areas of light are good.

Thanks Maureen for your opinion.

Just lovely Marjorie.

It's very nice Marjorie. If you feel that the plum shapes are a little strong, you could perhaps pick out some (just a few) of the individual flower shapes which would bring them forward? I must say though that those plums and vase are perfect and the painting looks good. Well worth a little more work on the flowers I think.

Thanks for that Louise, it was either knock back the plums or strengthen some of the flowers. I'll take your advice and go with the flowers.

don't paint over it Marjorie its a pretty painting it would be such a shame , I like it .

Thanks Dennis, but we're always very critical about our own stuff aren't we?

I agree with Louise, maybe strengthening just a few flowers might be best, but only slightly - I like it as it is.

A lovely delicate composition, the plumbs are great, maybe the hydrangeas could do with a bit more detail to make them stand out a little more. The glass vase and its shadow with reflected light is well captured. Nice work.

I like the plums Marjorie. Perhaps some deeper spits on the hydrangea to compensate but see what you think :)

It all depends on what it is you want to achieve/say with the painting. It's lovely and 'soft' and mellow in the application of oils which is very appealing.

Beautiful and delicate Majorie. Don't paint over it.

I love it, Marjorie. I agree with Louise - I think a little extra work on the flowers and it'll work beautifully.

The plums are super Marjorie and yes, I think you could work a little more on the flowers the painting would come alive.

I agree with everyone, a little more emphasis on one or two of the hydrangea flowers and this will be damn near perfect :) Love the colours.

A lovely still life Marjorie, love the glass vase and flowers

Have worked more on the flowers and vase and am a lot happier with it now. I feel the flowers and the plums now balance each other more. Thanks so much everyone for your advice. Re posted this at 5.25pm.

Wonderful painting Marjorie, soft colours and beautiful light.

Thank you very much Cesare.

Very good Marjorie

This is sort of an experiment. I've tried different colours together etc. It's not a great composition, I feel the whole thing would be better moved back and the plums may be too strong against the hydrangeas. But it's all experience. Oil on canvas. ( This morning I nearly painted a seascape over it, I may well do this)
