my thanks for the encouragement. Highest point is just over 2700 metres , there are crater lakes and it is an interesting hike can lose just about all that snow in summer.

just over 2 hours drive away and yes have been up on top a few times. Easier than Mt Taranaki - one starts at a higher altitude - unlike Mt Taranaki which starts at sea level. This is an active area and there have been a few coughs and splutters of recent years. Hot springs as well. Great tramping area - it is one of our National Parks.
