Great to read of your techniques...and a great result.

I like this a lot Mike

Love this, Mike, I also rarely draw first, this is fabulous. Never able to keep masking fluid here in Malta...any clues to keeping it???

Just love your darks Mike, I often go straight in with my brush and find it very liberating.

Lovely, strong, vibrant work Mike.

Terrific painting, Mike, love the colours.

my sincere thanks for the comments - still need all the encouragement I can get ! Masking fluid - is something used rarely rather than often so , invariably , the bottle sets off. Ammonia (as found in smelling salts so be careful ) will keep the pH higher/ alkaline and does seem to "resurrect " fluidity" - if caught before totally solid. Am not sure what affect it has on the paper . We have it on the shelves in Supermarkets - used in cleaning.

Lovely fresh watercolour, Mike

native grass - the Toi Toi is quite attractive and one sees it in gardens as well as "growing wild" Apart from reserving the Toi Toi and bridge rails with masking fluid , the rest is free painting - no drawing at all. Tree branches drawn with bamboo "pen" using watercolour. Enjoyed producing this one.
