I’m not surprised you got carried away Luc, what a fantastic portrait and wonderful subject. Even if it’s not as loose as you wanted it doesn’t look overworked.

This is a super characterful portrait Luc. Can I ask please, did you use masking fluid for those fine white lines or perhaps white gouache?

Thank you for your comments and likes, but a special thanks to the great photographer Leroy Skalstad who took this incredible shot and captured so much emotion. Christ,mas time is a very difficult time for these homeless people. For those wandering, I did use some liquid mask for the hair and beard. This fellow is now hanging next to where I paint.

Watercolor painting on 11'' x 17'', 300g paper. Thank you Leroy Skalstad for excellent ref photo. I was automatically drawn by the look, the eyes of this gentleman. Was initially hoping for a looser style approach but got caught up in some details.
