Beautiful palette and style. I missed yesterday's, it must have whizzed by due to you know what! I can see why you're excited and everything is turning out a success too.

Very good Louise, you have earned your marks! I think it doesn't matter with the leaves because the berries are defined and the focus is on them.

Thanks Marjorie and Satu. I'm still learning really, hopefully the leaves and thicker branches will appear next time! I'm happy with the overall colour but can see that it's not quite working out yet.

Excellent work, Louise! I think the intermingling dark shapes and the highlighted paler berries and fruits work extremely well. The palette is wonderful - that blue is amazing against the dark purples and pinks. I am loving these paintings.

Ah thanks Thea. For a change, I'm enjoying doing these so much that I'm looking forward to starting another one asap. As you know, sometimes getting going can be a struggle, but not this time. Also, I'd forgotten about my quinacridone tubes of paint so thanks for reminding me via your blog. The gold and red shades should work well in this type of painting.

This is a very attractive piece of hedgerow Louise, lovely tonal work with the colours and good textures as well

Lovely work. That milky blue against the wine colours - gorgeous

Louise, try Quin Coral - it is absolutely gorgeous. A sharpish pink but not in that awful bluey way of Opera Rose. Also, beautifully transparent.

Wow - love this Louise

Thanks Ros, Beverley and Glennis! Thea, I'd already noticed the name 'Quinacridone Coral', that you mentioned in your blog and though that it sounded rather nice. I can't resist trying out new colours and will try it.

The first thing I thought was "beautiful". Your new direction is exciting. I look forward to more.

Oh, and I like this one!

That's my kind of colour palette, Louise. A great success!

Many thanks, Gudrun, Carole (x 3!) and Jane!

Like the colours !

watercolour with black and sepia drawing ink. 10 in x 19 in. This is a larger version of yesterday's experiment. I used a little too much black ink which made it virtually impossible to define many leaf shapes which was the original plan. It was good fun to paint though and I'll give myself marks for effort! ..lol
