Great drawing...I can hear them buzzing!

So lively and full of spontaneity Louise. Beautiful!

That is just like cold angry wasps and well captured. We had one in our loft last year, the nest is remarkable.

Thank you Thalia, Mia and Ellen. We seem to just hate wasps when really, unless they are threatened (in which case they'll attack) it feels wrong to me to just kill them. My husband doesn't agree but I've convinced him that they'll die anyway in winter from starvation and the Queen will hibernate and not come back to the same nest. I think we'll block up the air brick when they've gone just in case as I cant use the kitchen doors today...there are just so many buzzing around! I've seen a n old nest in our loft as well Ellen. They are indeed remarkable and very clever.

Great! I think? We've had a small swarm under the eaves near our front door...I'd thought it too cold.

So many lady birds here as well Lewis. Must be the hot summer we had and it still doesn't feel like October!

I like how you have portrayed them Louise, they are a nuisance though.

Greatly demonstrated Louise!

Thanks Alan and Carole. They are a nuisance Alan. I had to use another door to go in the garden today otherwise it was sunglasses, gloves, long sleeves, wellies and a tea towel over my head for protection. They get more aggressive at this time of year apparently !

Lovely drawing Louise

Love this Louise! I like how you have given them vapour trials like aircraft, they are very animated. I’m not keen on them but they eat lots and lots of aphids, so that’s good! They will be gone soon, I think as you have said, they die off and don’t use the same nest.

I like the way you have portrayed all the movement Louise, well captured. We are being invaded by ladybirds too, I haven't been able to open my windows at all this week because as soon as they are open in they come.

Thanks David, Fiona and Margaret. Obviously I don't like them either Fiona but I can't bring myself to kill them. Actually, They'd probably get me first as they're so aggressive if threatened. They die off through lack of food in the winter and the queen hibernates..you see, I've done my research! At least the ladybirds don't sting or buzz around Margaret but there are so many this year.

What a wonderful idea for a painting Louise! I especially like the “buzzing/movement “ marks!

I seem to have missed this one. The only way I could ever like wasps is in a painting like yours.

We have a wasps nest in the air brick near our back door. It was frosty last night and early this morning they seemed to have gone .... then the sun came out!
