I love this style Louise - the colours and composition are great.

Nice work Louise.

Superb Louise love the work

Many thanks Helen, Jim and Dennis :)

Lovely composition and colours. Nice effect from the paper too Louise.

Thanks Carole. I quite like using the khadi paper. It's very forgiving as mistakes are easily washed out. I might try a bigger version of a similar scene after reading these nice comments. At least, I have an idea now :)

Great painting Louise, wonderful style and colours.

This is again a great city view, Louise.

Thank you Cesare and Mia!

Lovely view Louise.

Great piece Louise!

Love the fluidity and wonderful spontaneity of the washes, Louise!

Thanks Richard and Fiona (haven't seen you in ages Fiona..hope you're well) and thank you Seok :)

Lovely to see one of your townscapes again Louise.

Lovely lively piece Louise, I like your loose style and bold colours.

Thank you Val and Barry :)

Interesting piece Louise.

Louise I'm very well thank you for asking.....I'm waiting for a wave of inspiration, motivation and a good kick up the you know what, to wash up on the very dry shore that surrounds me at the moment! Any ideas?! Bet you wish you hadn't asked.....lol. Could do with a good challenge, as long as it doesn't involve a bridge!

Many thanks Margaret! Fiona, we all have times when inspiration isn't there and we just don't seem to want to paint. I do anyway and just sit it out until that inspiration comes back. I can't really give you a kick up the whatsit considering the distance involved but what about entering the pol painting comps listed on the competition page. For the sky one, you could paint a small bridge with a huge expanse of sky. The favourite wildlife one? a little duck under that bridge, same with the spring flower one ..flowers near the bridge lol. Sorry, I couldn't help but mention the b thing as you yourself brought back those 'happy?' memories. Seriously, try painting a large expanse of sky in a landscape and enter the comp. It might start you off and give you ideas for something new. This very small quick painting of mine here was just to get me painting after a bit of a drought and after reading all these encouraging comments, I now have an idea for another. You need to pick up the paint brush and go for it. A quick ten minute painting using just three colours perhaps? Anyway, nice to hear from you and good luck.

Hi Louise, your encouraging words were giving me the impetus to pick up my brush again....right up until you mentioned the 'B' word! My high hopes came crashing down and I reached once again for my only solace.....the bottle.....lol To be honest I haven't been idle on the creative front, I've had a garden design that is now finished, with another in the wings, and I've been doing a bit of metal 'sculpture work'. My husband has another phrase to describe it, which isn't very flattering by the way. I just haven't picked up a paint brush to do any serious damage with it, other than a very small, very loose watercolour of the hills one evening, which I couldn't resist. I know it will come back eventually, meanwhile, I will carry on playing about with my pile of scrap...sorry, I mean my metal sculpture work. Happy painting 🙂

Sorry about the 'b' word..it keeps cropping up every now and again. lol You'll get back into painting soon and probably a break from it is a good thing. I tell myself that anyway! We could do with a fun challenge but the site seems to have got a little more serious these days and a lot of the 'old' users don't seem to post work so much. The challenges always seemed to inspire me and give me ideas for paintings. I never win competitions which isn't very encouraging.. ( a big sky, little bridge would be good, but I'll leave that for you to paint when you have a break from garden design and sculpture) Hope the metal work goes well. You could post a picture of your efforts here. I for one would like to see your scrap..umm, I mean metal sculpture work. Seriously, I would. Nice to hear from you and don't take me too seriously (as if you would)

Its a very beautiful scene louise I always love watercolors but never achive to create a good one.

Thank you Mustafa :)
