Excellent painting David.

Excellent painting, one of my teacher seemed to get a lot of pleasure out of his use of the cane .

Nice work David. We had a few cane-disciples amongst our teaching staff.

Really good David, so much to interest the eye

A lot of nostalgic memories beautifully depicted David. Quite a challenge but you have succeeded brilliantly in this painting. I remember having very sore hands so frequently, as I was a bit of a loud mouth.

My great great grandfather was a school teacher in the 1880s. I became a teacher in 1987 - thankfully the year corporal punishment was banned in England and Wales. This is inspired by a black and white photograph from the era. Learning by rote and the cane were very much the order of the day. No fun for the kids . . . or the teacher.
