Laurence Brown sent in his version of this month's project saying: 'I have used a Canson 'Mi-Teintes' grey/greed paper as a base and Union soft pastels. The tree trunks are initially of dark bluish green (Unison only number their pastels, so please bear-with!). I also used this as a base for dark foliage and shadow areas. This was added to with mauve and 'burnt umber', creating rough edged and 'textured' areas of darkened leaves on the ground. I added some mauve to the foreground tree trunks to bring them forward. The mid and lighter greens were then dabbed on, almost at random to effect the sun's reflection and illumination. The sky filtering through the leaves and the highlights on reflecting foliage and tree trunks, I left until last, using white, a very light blue and yellow. I must confess, that I tend to 'feel' my paintings rather than set them out strategically. I suppose that is a result of being self taught!'
