Oil on canvas. An exercise set by my oil art teacher and I had to paint it the way Vermeer did it originally with different layers of glazes for the skintone. It was certainly a challenge - especially the lips, the lip skin tone was a nightmare to do and I still don't think I've got it right - but I have to say I enjoyed every step of this painting. It became an obsession. I changed her features and made her slightly older than Vermeer's masterpiece as I wanted to make her my own in a way. What a brilliant learning curve this was!
