Nearly 60 years ago, I used to stay in my uncle&#39;s house in the grounds of Bristol Zoo, where he was a keeper. There was an old, short-tempered bison there (not in the house, obviously.....) named Ferdinand. I was very fond of Ferdinand, and he liked me: I would go and stare at him for an hour at time, and he would stare calmly back. He was known to charge his bars - the poor devil must have been driven mad by the solitary confinement and concrete instead of woods and grass. I hope I was able to keep him company for a while and give him some sense of quiet contemplation.... wonder what he&#39;d have done if I could have got into his enclosure. <br /><br />Anyway - your picture reminds me of him, so it must be a good bit of observation: I hope yours is able to roam where he likes.
