Very appealing painting with good shadows. I like your chosen colours, Joseph, especially the touches of red on the boats. The walkways are really well done. I've done a few commissions, nice to be asked, but also not my favourite thing to do! Like you, I like just painting for my own pleasure as I feel like it. However, I think the owner will be pleased with this one!

Now this is just a gloriously bright sunshiny one. I am sure your client will have liked this very much. Good luck with the exhibitions. I can't imagine they won't be a success with your work.

Thanks Pat and Gudrun for your kind comments - much appreciated

Really different view and composition and your painting of it shows off your fantastic drawing skills as well as your undisputed brilliance with watercolour.

Those dark shadows really give a feeling of an intensely hot day. The loosely painted water is a good foil to the detailed busy village.

Thanks everyone for your great comments - much appreciated.

It's a wonderful painting Joseph. I find the compressed perspective a little unsettling (zoom lense?), but perhaps it's this 'photographic' element, allied to the sky-like ocean and cloud-like breakers beyond the two solitary figures on the sea wall, that lends it a dream-like atmosphere. So yes, I-like.

Sorry have been away for a while - I have been commissioned up to the eyeballs (including this one) and also trying to organize two exhibitions. Getting commissions is ok but I am so glad I've completed them lol - now I can get back to the subjects I like.
