Thank you everyone, so pleased you like it. It might give me a bit more confidence to hand it to her this week :) I find it is always difficult when you have been working on something closely for a while. I don't normally do grids but the blue fabric was throwing my layout somewhat. So this is painting Mk.II :) The first one ended up in the bin but not before I painted most of that blue fabric. The photo was on a slideshow at a village hall on the wall during her party. Her husband was watching the many photos and said that one he loved most of all I thought quietly.. challenge accepted! Am I giving it to her, or him?

I handed it to our friend today, she burst into tears and said she loved it, as did her husband. This is one of many presents she has been given for her 80th by various people, she is much loved. I really feel I should stop painting for friends as the greyhound on here also made my stepdaughter cry too... In a nice way I guess!

A portrait as a "present" for a lovely lady in our drama group. She turned 80 this year but you wouldn't think it! He husband always loved this photo that he took whilst on holiday in Crete. I hope I have done it justice so that they both will like it. Not a commission as such but still feels quite a bit of pressure. The fabric is lovely but that probably took the most time to paint.
