I think you learn so much by painting a copy of someone you really admire, as long as you say what it is you have done. After all, that's how the great Masters taught. I love the detail in this one.

You need to be a very skilful and talented artist to be able to copy a painting like this. Truly marvellous John!

This was a copy of a much bigger painting by Reginald Brill. Mine is about 1/3rd the size of his. A friend of mine saw a reproduction and liked it so I painted a copy for her. Copying is surprisingly satisfying and a wonderful learning process
