Four beauties Jackie love this

This is the best picture uploaded to this site of recent times. The only picture which is maybe superior is the beautiful game. I apologise for my candour but hidcote manor is a fantastic work. I actually prefer your work to the beautiful game and in painterly terms your picture is the most beautiful.

Why is this the best painting of recent times uploaded to this site?
The sense of balance proportion colour composition is almost perfect.
the path is very powerful in the composition. This is correctly balanced by the chimney but the chimney alone would not be enough so you have the white branches or plant. White and black are the most powerful colours in my opinion because they can influence how we see other colours most significantly. Chiaroscuro is a very powerful tool. A chiaroscuro in negative would be equally powerful because black would be white. Anyway the fact that the branches are white or nearly white creates this perfect balance between chimney and path. The flowers are not botanically totally accurate but like the impressionists the colour and size of each mark gives the impression of complexity in the vegetation. The same method is used in the building. Are the light colours blooms or highlights? They are both ofcourse. I dont want to go on and on but in a nutshell this is a high achievement. Fantastic.

Stunning painting Jackie, with wonderfull colours and full of atmosphere.

I love this Jackie - it looks very mysterious and you obviously had a great time painting it!

Thank you so much for the lovely comments about this painting! I really did enjoy doing this one and it was one of those you actually get lost in, you work away and then step back and think...'did I just paint that?' One of my favourites!
