Wow, a beautiful, well painted watercolour with a story. Well done, Heinz! I like this very much.

I like the word 'zestful' you have used to describe the surrounding pasture, and this reflects in your lovely painting. I should imaging this habitat supports many interesting creatures and plants.

Lovely light on the water and super reflections.

Thank you Lesley, CA Jones and Mia for your nice words. There are a lot of interesting creatures and plants in the surrounding pasture. Various pondweed and water star and the Common Hornwort , a surging form of the simple hedgehog piston. With Real bindweed , skipjack or meadowsweet, agrimony vulgar , gnarled figwort and various fireweed . Species-rich water fauna : a number of different meadow communities: Molinia meadows (Marsh Orchid , three-bladed bogbean , superb carnation , Common Teufelsabbiss , meadows knotweed and many other endangered species ) . Forest: alder-ash and the Weichholzauenwälder estimable , many willow species , most commonly the gray willow , but also basket , laurel , purple and Willow Smith are to be found . Fauna: Banded Demoiselle , insects , including bees, bumblebees , hoverflies and wasps. Butterflies find the Red List species clover burnet and birch - tailed . 17 of a total of 29 fish species Berlin , next to the main fish roach , especially eel , pike, carp , tench and pike . Birds are eg Beutelmeise , Whinchat , Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail , Gray Crane, Red-backed Shrike , Sedge Warbler , Black Woodpecker , Barred Warbler , Common Pochard , corncrake , Water Rail and White Stork. This variety is really astonishing for a big town like Berlin.

Lovely little painting, Heinz. Gentle tones and lovely reflections

Thank you for that information, Heinz. There are so few places left such as this, its nice to know you interest isn't only what you see around you but what it supports.

You have painted somewhere I should like to visit - to make me feel that is an achievement (not least because I just hate travelling!).

Thank you Pat, CA Jones and Robert. Dear Robert, perhaps you have the chance to visit Berlin one day and then you can walk through this nature protected region.

Little River Tegel, Etching/Watercolor, Deckle-Edged Paper, 9,4x12,6 inch, 1988. The Tegeler Fließ (little river) is a 12-km long little river, which starts near Basdorf in the district of Bernau and finish in the lake of Tegel in Berlin. The humid meadows at his banks near by Lübars belong to the most zestful pasture in the region of Berlin. Since 1941 it is under protection of nature. Near Lübars the Tegeler Fließ has about 2-3 meters width and 50 cm depth. A lot of stone grooves were installed to abate the ground-water level in the large valley. 10000 years ago ice time hunters had here a resting place. They were waiting here for the animals, which came over the little river and to chase them. A lot of excavation objects were found at this place which let conclude that the hunters had rested here 14 times and have made rich prey.
