Corfe Castle

It attracts me Alan…I like the soft light on the castle and the loose way you’ve applied the paint.

One of my favourite castles and this is a lovely painting too.

A very lovely, quaint view of the castle with that broody sky emphasising the light over the castle Alan.

Very eye catching colours and image, Alan

I've visited Corfe Castle - it struck me with enormous sadness, just imagining what it must have looked like before the vile Cromwell had battered it to pieces. I didn't want to paint it, for that very reason. I like your painting, though, because it doesn't emphasize the destruction.

Thank you Marjorie, Heather, Carole, Thalia and Robert for your comments. Robert I do have some sympathy with your views on the Castle, I always think of it as a sad relic of history . I see so many paintings or Photographs trying to make it look ‘pretty’ or ‘fairy tale like’. I have tried not to do either, but only others can judge if I have been successful.

Love the striking contrast, palette and your brushstrokes Alan. I think you’ve captured it’s strength and place in history very well.

Thank you Fiona.🙂

Thank you Coral🙂

Oil on board 12” x 12”. Living, as I do, just a few miles from the iconic Corfe Castle, it’s a view that just has to be painted…….occasionally 🙂
