Always motivated by history, I believe the building originally belonged to The Admiralty and was called The Watch House (now a summer holiday residence). The house was more than likely built and occupied by two senior coastguards and their families. No visible date mark can be found on the property but its definitely post-1856 when the admiralty took control of the coastguard. Painted in oils.
