Thank you, this was great fun to do, with lots of directional flicking and suggestive elements which I found exciting. Despite there being straight lines all over the boat, I didn't want any of the lines to be straight. Quite a challenge in many ways, but I think it paid off. Limited colours work well, I used Daniel Smith, many of which granulate as well as a mauve 'interference colour' these 'interference colours' look like nothing at all if painted onto white paper, but if painted either on top of a darker colour or dropped into a wet wash create some lovely results.

Love the subject and limited palette, Fiona. Violet is one of my favourite colours, and I'm also a fan of Daniel Smith watercolours - I've got a couple of their interference colours but haven't used them yet - hadn't thought of dropping them into a wet wash, must give it a try!

You will have such fun with the interference colours Jenny! Its a shame that photos don't show the 'glow' that interference colours have, this painting looks so much more interesting in real life than on the photo. Do get your painting out and have a go!
