Great picture, Fiona. You've got the boat perfectly, and I like the free way that you've captured the grass and foliage.

Well done Fiona, you've lifted your sketch into a terrific painting with the boat and landscape character showing nicely. Great shape to the boat too with its relaxed abandoned look. So good.

It looks lovely with the washes Fiona, a real difference. 😃

Thanks very much Lewis! Willie thank you, difficult to get that scruffy look without putting too much detail in ie the moss and weed hanging off the side of the boat a and peeling paint. Try and cram that lot in and the loose effect goes out of the window.

Thank you Linda, not sure if I prefer the pencil sketch, I find it difficult to get an ink sketch exacting to the pencil sketch, this boat is shorter and plumper, and of course once you go in with the ink there’s no rubbing out!

Lovely painting, Fiona.

A great painting Fiona! The boat looks perfect and all the grasses, trees and houses are smashing. I love the soft colours!

Fiona it looks perfect to me, 😀

Fiona i like this version especially without the sticky up bit. I think it also shows up the buildings in the background better which makes the whole scene more complete (in a one eyed viewers opinion) LOL

Lovely composition and colours Fiona - boats can be difficult, you've captured this one just right!

Ellen, Satu, Linda, Carol (lol) and Jenny thank you very much ladies, appreciate your comments very much.

One of my favourite mediums Fiona and it’s good to see you doing it justice lovely mark making.

A lovely transformation from the original sketch, well done

Very nice indeed Fiona. The boat is super, lovely work all round! Have you had much snow?

Lovely pen & ink painting. I like the loose style and palette used Fiona.

Thank you Barry, I’m trying to reach your standards, lots more practice to go yet! Thanks very much David, you’re very kind. No snow here Margaret, only on the hill tops, I’m not far from the sea so we tend to miss most of it. Been bad inland I’m told. Thank you for your comment. Thank you Carol, appreciate your comment.

Excellent Fiona. A fine sketch.

Nice painting Fiona I like the handling of the foliage around the scene . Happy new year Fiona

I love the blues, a beautiful painting,Fiona.

Great boat Fiona, beautiful marks.

Artists licence prevails Fiona, maybe the boat is too central, but you knew that. Good sketch

Excellent, great abandoned boat and colours.

Many thanks Jim, Dennis....happy new year.....Annick and Carole for commenting.

Thanks Derek, confession, it didn’t occur to me about the boats position...ooops. Thank you very much Richard, I might try a sheep next...lol.

Thank you Paul, that’s very kind of you.

Just looking through your gallery Fiona. This one is definitely better than the first. Great sketch and I really like the addition of the blue on the boat.

What a wonderful, harmonious work! It has just enough colour and detail.

Thank you Bill, very kind of you.

12”x9” Indian ink and watercolour on Jacksons rough paper. Done from pencil sketch of a few days ago, this model is a little plumper around the girth......must be the time of year, so am I! Lol I’ve also omitted the winch type thingy that was sticking up in the middle of the boat.
