Well done Fiona, this is really good, the pale tones of the distant hills really show up the solidity of the rocks.

It was worth the effort well done!!!!!!!:)Linda

Good for you Fiona for having three goes at this subject. The paintings are all so different and all good!. This one is very calm and the colour of the rocks is excellent. I especially like the smoother greeny shade surface of the two sloping rocks on the left. They look so solid and that's a lovely colour! Do you really live within walking distance of this view? I can't imagine what that must be like. It's a bit different from my local scenery :)

Very effective, Fiona; the colours on the rocks are lovely - well done!

Thanks Stephen, I took your advise ref the distant hills, and tried to fade them out a little. I much preferred your impression of the subject.

Thank you Linda and Jane for your kind comments. Thanks Louise, the greeny shade is manganese blue and burnt sienna, it makes a lovely green. I feel very lucky to live within a few minutes walk of this kind of scenery and if I go to the top of my garden, I get quite a good view of 'slpit rock' and the range of mountains beyond. Thanks again.

Those rocks are very well painted and I love your chosen palette, you've made me want to search out this place next time I'm up your way. Thanks for your comment on my woodshed, just a bit of fun but I enjoyed doing it.

Thanks Val, I really struggled with this one.

This is the third attempt at a watercolour from a pen & wash sketch I did........I'm beginning to go off 'Split Rock'!! It's the best of the three, one of which is on the reverse. Colours used; ultra marine, manganes blue, burnt sienna, raw sienna and a little light red.
